Suicide Awareness

Supporting Our Veterans in North Carolina

Every day in our nation, an estimated 22 veterans lose their lives to suicide. This heartbreaking reality deeply affects families, friends, and communities here in North Carolina and across the country. While our State MOPH Department does not yet have its own program, we stand with and support the National Military Order of the Purple Heart’s Suicide Awareness Program, which is committed to reaching veterans with compassion, education, and resources.

The goal of the National program is to help veterans and their loved ones recognize the signs of crisis, respond with care, and connect with life-saving support. Just as importantly, it works to build bonds between veterans—creating spaces of belonging, understanding, and healing where no one has to face struggles alone.
